Public Policy

Good public policy is vital to improving outcomes for children and institutionalizing long-term change.  Recognizing that all three levels of government children, the Larry King Center focuses on public policy at the local and state level.

Our policy work occurs through a variety of means:

Develop a strategic policy agenda and identify strategies to achieve key priorities.  Download our 2012 Policy Agenda

Coalition-Building

Convene stakeholders to speak as one voice to policy makers

Direct Advocacy

Work directly with policy makers to shift legislation and other policies to support advocacy priorities

Budget-Tracking

Track the budget process for state and local government and analyze the impact of proposed budgets on children and key priorities.  Read the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Children’s Budget, developed by LKC to track the public and private dollars spent on children’s issues in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community.
