Community Planning

To develop a community agenda to address complex children’s issues, the LKC utilizes a structured and time-limited community engagement process to create action plans.  Through this process, strategies that address the most pressing needs facing children in our community are developed, action steps are outlined and responsible parties are identified.

Once action plans are developed, the LKC works to ensure the plan is implemented and executes the research, public awareness, and policy strategies. The LKC also ensures coordination and communication among funders, providers, and other key stakeholders following the launch of a community plan. Finally, the LKC monitors the implementation, to ensure that progress is tracked and reports on the impact of the plan on child indicators to the community.

The first of these plans, Unlocking the Potential of a Community: The Plan for School Readiness, was launched in June, 2011.  A companion document, Ready to Read, was released in June 2012.  A framework supporting the out of school time sector is under development with 45 community partners.
